Under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, The dutyholder (whoever is responsible for maintenance and repair) must find or presume the asbestos, assess and record its condition, plan how to manage it, and tell anyone who could disturb it.   • It cannot go in a normal skip or household bin.
  • It must be double-wrapped in heavy-duty polythene, sealed and clearly labelled as asbestos.
  • It must be transported by a registered waste carrier to a permitted (licensed) facility.
  • The movement must be documented with a hazardous-waste consignment note, kept for three years.
