Asbestos air monitoring and clearance testing

Air monitoring measures the concentration of asbestos fibres in the air. It's used for reassurance testing during and around asbestos works, and for the four-stage clearance that has to be passed after licensed removal before an area can be reoccupied, confirming the space is safe to return to.

Samples are collected on-site using calibrated pumps and analysed to recognised standards. Air monitoring is an independent safeguard: it checks that control measures are working while a job is underway, and provides documented proof that an area is clear afterwards, protecting occupants, workers and the responsible duty-holder.
