The most useful thing to know about asbestos prices is that there isn't one price. There's a ladder, and where your job sits on it depends mostly on whether it's licensed work.
Bonded cement (garage roofs, cement soffits) and floor tiles are usually non-licensed, so they sit at the cheap end. Crumbly materials, like pipe lagging, sprayed coatings and most insulating board, are licensed. They sit far higher because of the enclosure, air tests and clearance the law asks for.

There's no fixed price list by region, because the details of the job usually matter more than where it is. The broad pattern is that London and the South East usually cost more:

Lower labour rates. The North is the low point against London.
Rural Scotland, Wales, coastal areas and islands

Long travel, ferries, overnight stays and a long haul for the waste.
Any hard-to-reach job, anywhere

Height, scaffolding, tight spaces or a building that's in use.
Bottom line: London and the South East usually cost more than the North of England. Beyond that, access and the type of material move the price more than where you live.
What drives the cost
- Licensed or not. This matters most. Bonded cement is non-licensed and cheap. Crumbly materials are licensed and need an enclosure, air extraction and clearance, which is why they cost far more.
- Crumbly or bonded. Crumbly material lets go of fibres easily, so it needs far more containment and testing.
- Access, height and scaffolding. Working at height or in tight spaces adds cost, and so does scaffolding.
- Amount. More material means more labour and waste. Big jobs work out cheaper per square metre.
- Disposal distance and load. Hazardous waste can only go to licensed sites. The further it has to travel, the more it costs.
- Air tests and clearance. These have to be done after licensed removal, which adds a UKAS-accredited analyst's time and certificate.
- Region. London and the South East usually cost more, and remote areas add travel.

We checked every price on this page against published UK price lists in October 2026. We only list a job where those price lists gave us enough to go on. Where they didn't, we show no price rather than a guess.
A range is what the job typically costs. A "from" price is where the job starts, and where we can, we also show what most cost.
Every price is shown before VAT. The one exception is the postal test kit, which is a shop price including VAT.
The type of material, how easily it crumbles, access and the amount of waste matter far more than any headline number. So your final price is confirmed by a free quote. Licensed removal must be done by an HSE-licensed contractor.
